New England Laboratories contracted Exacting Engineering to engineer this system, which could lift and store hundreds of pounds of lab equipment in a compact arrangement of actuated, vertically stacked shelves.   An operator could use the system's touch-screen HMI to select one of four shelves they wished to access.  The machine would then raise or lower the "shelf elevator" to bring the desired shelf to the operator's level, then a horizontal actuator would engage the shelf and draw it towards the operator.  The system also included a vertically-adjustable work surface, and several levels of sensors for operator safety.
